    Self-Esteem

Perhaps with all the neurotypical expectations and pressures, you've faced a string of 'failures' and criticism that has driven a life of self-doubt, shame, and low self-esteem. You worry about how others see you, and your self-worth might be wrapped up in how you perform, what you achieve, or otherwise keeping people happy. Despite your best efforts, you’ve gotten messages that you’re too much of one thing, and not enough of the other. To put it simply, you don’t like yourself very much. Perhaps you sometimes wonder why anyone else would, and it’s affecting your relationships. With all of this, you can be hard on yourself, and you know it, but you’re not sure what you can do about it.

Together we can help you develop confidence and trust in yourself. We’ll help to develop your capacity to be kind to yourself, and advocate for yourself, including with your inner critic. We’ll work towards you coming away feeling more at ease with yourself, and in turn, in your relationships.

    Anxiety

Maybe confusing, awkward, and hurtful experiences are familiar to you. The world can feel a scary place where you’re often on edge. Perhaps you can get caught up thinking about the umpteen ways you could have done things differently. You can be so aware of yourself and your surroundings, and with such a busy mind full of worries. You might worry about what you’ve done wrong or what you’ll get wrong, with daily demands and with others. With memory difficulties you might worry you’ll forget what you want to say, where you’ve put things, or what you need to do. Perhaps with this relentless anxiety, you can feel held back from what’s important to you in work, life, and relationships.

Together we can explore the fears at the heart of your anxiety. We’ll get curious about what this all means for you, and how you’ve understandably developed ways to protect yourself from these fears. We’ll help you discover what life can be like with greater ease, in a more forgiving world.

    Stress

Daily pressures and responsibilities with work or studies, the household, and relationships, can feel overwhelming. Faced with mundane tasks and chores, you can feel like your body’s completely drained of energy, and it’s as if you hit a brick wall. It can feel gruelling to do what you need to do, when you need to. On top of this, time can feel a mystery, and it can be difficult to plan when you don’t have a clear sense of how long things could take. You can also lose track of time when you’re immersed in something that’s really captured your attention. You were supposed to do those really mundane things instead, remember? You might stay up late, or sacrifice things you enjoy to catch up, which can make you feel worse, a lot worse.

Together we can help you find your boundaries and more balance in your life to discover relief from the stress. We can look at what’s shaped how you respond to stress, and ways you can bring more kindness to yourself. We can help you develop greater awareness of what you need, so you can discover more ease with life’s challenges.

    Managing Emotions

You can feel deeply, and when this gets overwhelming you can end up feeling numb and disconnected. You often don’t know what exactly you’re feeling, why, or how to manage with your emotions, It can all build up and sometimes you react in ways you later regret. Other times, the build up seems to seep into you and it can feel toxic. Often it seems all you can do is find distractions, maybe even avoid things that are important to you, all to get away from the overwhelming tangle of emotions that doesn’t seem to shift and can dominate your world .

Together we can give you the space you need to gradually connect with your emotions, and gain clarity and ease around them. We’ll get curious about what your emotions are telling us about your inner world and what you need. Through this, you’ll find that you develop your capacity to notice how you feel, and respond in ways that meet your needs, so that you can move through emotions with more ease.

    Depression

You’re used to putting your all into things and still feeling like you’ve come up short. Over time it can feel like things are pointless and that there’s no hope. You can find yourself disconnected, spiralling into despair, and just wanting to give up altogether. You sometimes wonder about how it would be easier if you didn’t exist. Perhaps you’ve had thoughts of suicide, and you’re in desperate and dark times.

Together we can take the time and space you need to process what’s going on for you. We’ll honour your feelings, whether that’s detached numbness, the tough heavy stuff weighing you down, or anything in between. We’ll work through it together and gradually develop that bit of hope, however small, that’s brought you to search for support. Together we’ll help you discover relief and reconnection to find your way forward in life, at your pace and in your way.

    Childhood Trauma

Perhaps some part of you is aware that the painful experiences you went through as an ADHD child are affecting you in life and relationships. It might be that you were bullied, abandoned, or felt repeatedly rejected in other ways. It might be that you grew up with a lot of dismissiveness around your emotions and needs. It might be that you faced abuse, traumatic losses, or discrimination. Perhaps these experiences have left you distrustful of others, yourself, and the world around you. They might have also left you feeling unworthy of love, understanding, and belonging. You can both long for close relationships with others, and find this scary and out of reach.

Together we can work through painful experiences to lessen the power they have over you. We can help you restore trust in yourself and others, so you can gradually open up to the possibilities of greater human connection, and fulfilling relationships.

    Identity

At some point you noticed you seemed to struggle more than others. You just felt 'different', which left you feeling ashamed and unsure of yourself. So perhaps without even realising it, you found ways to cover up and compensate for your difficulties. You often find that you compromise yourself to fit in and please others, and it can feel as if you’ve lost yourself along the way. It might seem as though parts of you are at odds with each other, and you’re unsure of who you really are.

Together we can help you gain clarity and connection with yourself and what you really feel, want, and need. We’ll give you the space to bring all parts of you, so you can experience what it’s like to feel accepted for who you are as a whole person. We’ll help you discover the courage and freedom to become who you were always meant to be, in a more fulfilling life.

    Pre ADHD Diagnosis

Perhaps you're starting to consider whether you might be ADHD, or you’re approaching a diagnostic assessment. Finding your way through the available information, systems, and options can feel confusing and overwhelming. You might be struggling to process what this means for you. ‘What if I'm not ADHD, and I really am just lazy and incapable? What difference will a diagnosis make anyway?’

Together we can consider the likelihood of you being ADHD, what this means for you, and the steps you’d like to take towards a diagnostic assessment, if any. We can explore areas such as your hopes, concerns, and the personal value of an assessment for you. Together we can help you discover more clarity and the right path for you.

    Post ADHD Diagnosis

If you've just been diagnosed ADHD, you might be faced with questions around who you are, as if you have a new lens on how you see yourself and the world around you. You might be left grieving a past version of yourself, or wondering what could have been if you had known earlier. Perhaps the ideas of sharing your diagnosis and asking for accommodations also have particular meanings for you that you’d like support to work through.

Together we can explore these areas, and others, to help you gain clarity and ease as you move forward in your ADHD journey.
